How You'll Make An Impact

Summary: BlenderBottle Company seeks a first-rate attorney with three to six years of experience to join its legal team and provide creative and proactive legal guidance. Candidates must have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to contribute to a constantly evolving business and be motivated to learn the company's business and develop deeper and broader legal expertise. The ideal candidate will be energetic, business-minded, smart, and emotionally intelligent. This role will primarily support a variety of marketing activities with additional work assigned based on the business's needs and the individual's skills and experience.

Counsel Job Responsibilities:

  1. Review and advise company regarding marketing materials, including advertisements and product packaging.
  2. Coordinate with company stakeholders to draft, review, negotiate, interpret and advise on a variety of marketing-related contracts.
  3. Provide training to the marketing team regarding advertising law and trademark use.
  4. Advise the company on trademark matters and manage the company's global trademark portfolio, including prosecution of trademark applications and maintenance of trademark registrations; coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
  5. Advise the company on compliance with product safety laws and regulations.
  6. Contribute to continual process improvement.
  7. Stay up to date with relevant changes regulations, laws and industry standards.
  8. Assesses, manage and anticipate risk and support the organization's operations with prompt, sound legal advice.
  9. Effectively build internal and external relationships. Communicate potential issues clearly and concisely to stakeholders, to resolve in a timely manner.
  10. Perform legal research on assigned topics and, if requested, draft memoranda or position papers on the topics.
  11. Anything else that gets thrown your way to support a fast-paced, innovative company.

 

What You'll Bring to the Team

We seek employees who are adept at contributing their personal expertise to a collaborative work environment. For this role, we're looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

Required skills and experience:

  1. Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree.
  2. Member of the Utah State Bar in good standing.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in trademark, advertising, and product safety law.
  4. Experience drafting, reviewing, interpreting, negotiating and advising on agreements related to marketing activities and trademark licensing.
  5. 3-6 years of relevant post-law school legal practice.
  6. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  7. Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication, and research skills.
  8. Deadline driven, capable of managing multiple critical projects; excellent organization and time management skills.
  9. Quick thinking with superior analytical ability and strong attention to detail.
  10. Robust computer skills.
  11. Be a positive, can-do team player; remain positive, professional, calm and focused; create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders.
  12. Strong record of sound business judgment and representing clients in commercial transactions under tight timeframes.

Preferred skills and experience:

  1. Experience in both a large law firm and an in-house legal department.
  2. Expertise in one or more of these areas of the law: bankruptcy collection, insurance, and regulatory compliance (in addition to product safety).
  3. Experience providing legal services to a consumer products company.
